ITEM SUMMARY:
· Goal 1: Attracting & Retaining a Healthy Business Mix
a) Host Breakfast Bites Training and Small Business Workshops (October 22 timeframe)-

· Make list of potential topics and speakers for the year and opportunities to partner - (Topics:
Capitalizing on craft brews & spirits, The Art of Economic Development/Small Business,
Crowdfunding).
· Reach out to new downtown business owners and developers with new/upcoming projects and
invite to attend/present - Cheryl
· Confirm speakers and date a month in advance – Oct. 22
· Design promotional materials two weeks in advance to promote through social media, videos
and/or flyers - Cheryl
· Follow up by reading surveys and plan for next training – Review results of surveys
b) Welcome potential/new businesses to make aware of process and opportunities - Julie
· Update printed brochure and produce digital version adding free marketing/networking
opportunities - Julie/Bill
· Distribute through monthly Block Captain visits and quarterly meetings – ER Committee
c) Support downtown businesses through new “Shop Small Spree”, monthly luncheons and Block
Captain visits – Marcy/Cheryl/Jim
· Research other downtown’s cash mob programs and come up with “best practices” to implement

· Update status of listing for potential Chamber/DGA member businesses to visit and date for
“Shop Small Spree” (Small Business Saturday, Nov. 29) – Marcy
· Promote “Shop Small Spree” via social media and PR – Chamber/DGA/Marcy/Jim
· Select regular meeting date for monthly luncheons (September 15) and restaurant location and
notify Main Street and HARC board and committee members – Cheryl
d) Communicate with downtown business and property owners through downtown database –

· Communicate with Block Captains to get updated contact info from each downtown property and

e) Target downtown buildings for specific new business mix – Bill/Bob
· Make list of downtown buildings that are currently available and what targeted business might
work best in the spaces (status)
· Contact property owners about details of properties and future plans
· Goal 2: Raising Awareness and Funding for Main Street Program Projects
a) Promote Façade & Sign Grant Program to business and property owners - Marcy
· Keep ongoing list of completed façade and sign grant recipients and schedule upcoming dates for
check presentations near current Main Street mtgs. (Cary Rabb with 600 Degrees, The Screen
Door, Avalon Monuments, La Bella Casa location – Ken Horak) Still waiting on Pink Poppy
Artisans Boutique and Galaxy Bakery.
· Update scheduled date and confirm photographer a week in advance
· Invite all Main Street/HARC board and committee members to attend
· Follow through with photographer to make sure photos are posted on city website and FB pages
and encourage board and committee members to like and share
· Goal 3: Promoting Downtown’s Image as a Signature Destination
a) Promote and support downtown as a Cultural District by using the arts as E.D. – Marcy/Julie
· Partner with CVB, HARC and Arts & Culture Boards to visit successful downtowns to gain new
ideas: (headcount for Denton visit, Oct. 24-25)
· Meet and plan with SU and GISD Fine Arts programs to promote student involvement and
performance in downtown. Dr. Gaffney (SU) Fine Arts students and Jason Chapman – Jim/Marcy
b) Encourage and promote Georgetown as a College Town – Jim/Marcy
· Attend bi-monthly College Town Committee meetings to continue partnerships - next meeting
date – October 23
· Meet with SU staff to continue hosting downtown pep rallies and homecoming parade (Nov. 7)
