Steering Committee Members present: Shorty Valdez, Miguel Ferguson, Terry Pagan,
Lili Vargas, Jesse Valdez, Marcos Gonzales, Linda Barton, Vrn Thomas

Meeting was called to order at 6:39 pm.
Public Wishing to Address the Board
A. At the time of posting, no persons had signed up to address the Board.
Legislative Regular Agenda
B. Approval of August 23rd meeting minutes.
Motion to approve by Shorty Valdez, 2nd by Jesse Valdez. Approved 7-0.
C. Presentation and discussion of Market Scan, Vulnerability Analysis and Land
Use/Urban Design Recommendations - Grace Barrett, APD Urban Planning and
Nat Waggoner, Asst. Dir. - Long Range
APD reviewed and discussed the vision statement for San Jose with the Steering
Committee.

• The San Jose neighborhood is a historic, multigeneration, safe
neighborhood close to the Downtown Square that celebrates its Hispanic
heritage, residential character, and community assets like San Jose Park,
San Jose Community Church, and the historic San Jose shrine.
• The Steering Committee offered the following feedback on the vision
statement: modify the reference to proximity to the Downtown Square, it
seems impersonal.
Presentation and Discussion on Market Scan, Vulnerability Analysis and Land
Use, Urban Design Recommendations
APD provided an overview of the findings from the Market Scan and
Vulnerability Analysis and provide recommendations for land use and urban
design.
Motion to adjourn at 8:4. Approved.

the projec t team will s hare the final vis ion and goals for the neighborhood, recommendations on topics
s uc h as housing, transportation, and land use, and zoning and c onfirm s trategies for how to be engage the
community going forward.
