Susan Watkins called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.
Agenda
The presentation included introducing the consulting team, discussing the scope of
work, timeline, proposed deliverables, and committee members' participation and
expectations. The project team conducted activities to gain a baseline understanding of
the S.C. members' thoughts on their community and expectations of the project process
and outcomes of the plan. Listed are samples of the questions and responses given:
1. What are your Goals & Expectations for this project?
1) To preserve the long standing heritage of the TRG for our generation and future
generations to come and enjoy.
2) To provide a long range plan that benefits the entire community as well as
3) To bring neighborhood together to include residents, safety, and development
policies to include history of Georgetown so that we preserve past while
enhancing the future.
2. What are your goals for successful outreach and community engagement
during this project?

1) 30% resident engagement. All means of communication utilized (neighborhood
meetings, NextDoor App, door to door, mail outs, Facebook neighborhood group).
FULL stakeholder input. Togetherness in the neighborhood (block party, etc)
2) Success would be getting a lot of the community to come out and participate,
residents, developers and council to come to the public meetings, it could make a
difference in their view.
3) To get a majority of our community engaged. Door to door, mail and social
media.
3. Poll taken to understand the perception of TRG’s southernmost boundary
1) 17th & 19th Street – 2 votes
2) Leander Rd – 8 votes

Steering Committee members were given a take-home assignment to identify
community assets on a map provided to them.
Questions & Concerns
There were concerns from the SC members about the ongoing development occurring
in the neighborhood and the impact it will have while this plan is being developed of
the next 9 months.

D. Presentation and discussion of the neighborhood plan and community meetings
schedule. Susan Watkins, Neighborhood & Housing Program Manager
Susan Watkins reviewed the timeline of the Committee meetings and the
decision-making process.
Discussion regarding the meeting date and times. It was suggested to give a
more advance notice of a meeting date and to schedule a time to allow flexibility
for everyone.
Discussion regarding the best way to provide advance notice and to review the
materials.

E. Discussion of outreach for the upcoming neighborhood plan community
meeting. Susan Watkins, Neighborhood & Housing Program Manager
Staff stated the Community Meeting is scheduled for July 1st starting at 6:30 p.m.
at the City of Georgetown Library, Friends Room located at 402 W. 8th Street.
APD stated the open house format is to identify opportunities and challenges as
seen from a resident’s point of view and establish a vision for the plan that
includes input and consensus.
The June 24th meeting is confirmed to start at 6:00 p.m. APD stated during this
meeting The TRG Neighborhood Plan Steering Committee will review and be
able to modify the material before being presented during the July 1st
Community Meeting.
The Steering Committee reviewed the sign and flyer. Several suggestions were
made.
Flyer –
• Spellcheck
• Change font color of 2nd paragraph of flyer
• Flyer is possibly too wordy; yard sign can also be used in “showcase”
• Need to confirm Spanish translation is updated to reflect revised English
versions.
• reverse paragraph order, 1st public meeting is important to emphasize.
Yard Sign –
• Consider yard sign for mailer
Frequently Asked Questions were reviewed.
• What is a neighborhood plan?
• Why should I be involved?
• How long will the process last?
• What topics will this plan address?
• How did this project come to be?
Committee suggested to adding to FAQ list
• How can I get involved?
• Who should I reach out for more information and input?
• What is the roll of The TRG Neighborhood Plan Steering Committee?
Staff stated once the updates have been completed the flyer, yard signs and
FAQ’s will be sent to the Steering Committee as quickly as possible.
Staff asked for The TRG Neighborhood Plan Steering Committee to:
• Answer questions from the community.

• Engage community members to provide feedback.
• Recruit neighbors to be more involved.
Staff encouraged each Steering Committee member to invite members of their
community to attend the July 1st Community Meeting. The Steering Committee
stated they could possibly reach out to approximately 79 community area homes.
Cesar Acosta stated he will call to follow up on contact progress.
Steering Committee asked and ADP stated updated flyers and yard signs will be
updated by June 15th.
Steering Committee asked and staff stated there will be materials in spanish
along with a spanish speaker available during the meeting.
F. Updates on city projects near the TRG neighborhood. Susan Watkins,

C. Nomination and selection of a Vice-chair and Chair for the TRG Neighborhood
Plan Steering Committee. Susan Watkins, Neighborhood & Housing Program

Motion by Swain to nominate Chasity Hattley as Chair of the TRG
Neighborhood Plan Steering Committee. Second by Patterson. Approved (6-0)
Motion by Swain to nominate Carlos Bustillos as vice-chair of the TRG
Neighborhood Plan Steering Committee. Second by Clark. (6-0)
B. Consideration and possible action to approve the minutes from the May 4, 2021
regular meeting of the TRG Neighborhood Plan Steering Committee. Susan

Minute approval postponed to the June 24, 2021 meeting.
