Review and possible approval of the minutes of the May 11, 2015 Sign Subcommittee meeting. Motion by Mee to approve the minutes as submitted. Second by Brown. Approved 3 – 0. C. Public hearing and possible action on a Certificate of Design Compliance Request for Signage at City of Georgetown, Block 42, Lot 3-4 (PTS), 0.2226 acres, located at 708 Rock Street. (CDC-2015-015) Synatschk presented the staff report. The applicant is requesting to place a white vinyl sign on her glass door and on the front window of the business. The applicant’s request for new business signage is in compliance with the design guidelines. The Guidelines allow for the installation of a window and door signage. The sign placement is appropriate as defined by the architectural features of the structure. The window sign is appropriate for businesses located in high pedestrian areas. The signs comply with the size requirements of the Guidelines and do not exceed the allowable colors. Staff recommends approval. The applicant, Shawnee Kunz was present and stated she was just happy to have a business downtown and really liked the sign. Knight opened the Public Hearing and with no one coming forth, closed it. Motion by Brown to approve the signage as submitted. Second by Mee. No discussion by the commissioners, motion approved 3 – 0. According to the submitted letter of intent, the applicant wishes to install a new canopy sign, new hanging sign and new window signs. Staff recommends approval of the request based on the findings that the request meets the approval criteria of Section 3.13.030 of the Unified Development Code (UDC), as outlined in the attached Staff Report. The affirmative vote of the majority of the HARC Sign Subcommittee members is required to approve the CDC request. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. The applicant paid the required fees. The Guidelines allow for the installation of door signage, canopy signs and hanging signs. The sign placement is appropriate as defined by the architectural features of the structure. The window sign is appropriate for businesses located in high pedestrian areas. The signs comply with the size requirements of the Guidelines and do not exceed the allowable colors. APPLICABLE DESIGN GUIDELINES 9.1 Consider the building front as part of an overall sign program 9.2 A sign shall be subordinate to the overall building composition 9.3 A primary sign should identify the services or business offered within. 9.4 A secondary sign should identify the services or business offered within. 9.8 A window sign may be considered. PUBLIC COMMENTS As of the date of this report, no public comments have been received by the City. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends approval of CDC-2015-018 as presented.
