PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, in the United States, nearly 30 million people – including 1.8 million in the State of Texas and 32,500 in Williamson County – have diabetes, a serious disease with potentially
life-threatening complications such as heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney disease and amputation; and
WHEREAS, an additional 86 million people in the United States are at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes; and
WHEREAS, recent estimates project that as many as one in three American adults will have diabetes in 2050 if current trends continue; and
WHEREAS, an increase in community awareness is necessary to put a stop to the diabetes epidemic; and
WHEREAS, we encourage all Americans to recognize American Diabetes Month and be part of the American Diabetes Association’s Stop Diabetes movement to confront, fight and, most importantly,
change the future of this deadly disease.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim the month of November
AMERICAN DIABETES MONTH
