F I NANC I AL IMPAC T: N/A S UBMI T T ED BY: Robyn Densmo re , City Secretary AT TAC HMENT S : Description 12.10.2019 C anvas s ing R es o lutio n Page 2 of 6 Resolution No. _________________ Page 1 of 2 Description: Canvass of November 5, 2019 Special Election to Fill a Vacancy Date: _________________________ RESOLUTION NO. ________________ A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN RUNOFF ELECTION TO FILL A VACANCY HELD ON DECEMBER 10, 2019 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas ordered a general election to be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, for the purpose of electing a Councilmember for District 1; WHEREAS, on December 10, 2019 an election was held on the following: To elect a Councilmember from the City of Georgetown Single-Member District 1 to fill a vacancy; WHEREAS, the election officers who held said election have prepared the returns of the results thereof, and the returns have been delivered to the City Council; and WHEREAS, it appears from the returns, duly and legally made, that the following votes were cast: FOR COUNCILMEMBER DISTRICT 1 Alex Fuller ___ _____% Mary Calixtro ___ _____% Total ___ 100.00% NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN TEXAS, that: SECTION 1. The City Council officially finds and determines that the election was duly called; that proper notice of the election was given in accordance with law; that the election was held in accordance with law; that returns of the results of the election have been made and delivered, and that the City Council has canvassed the returns, all in accordance with the law and the resolution calling the election. SECTION 2. It appears from said returns, duly and legally made, that a runoff election is required to determine who is elected as the Councilmember for the City of Georgetown Single-Member District 1. SECTION 3. It is further found and determined that in accordance with the order of this governing body, the City Secretary posted written notice of the date, place and subject of this meeting on the bulletin board located outside of City Hall, a place convenient and readily accessible to the general public, and said notice was posted and remained Page 3 of 6 Resolution No. _________________ Page 2 of 2 Description: Canvass of November 5, 2019 Special Election to Fill a Vacancy Date: _________________________ posted continuously for at least 72 hours preceding the scheduled time of the meeting. A copy of the posting shall be attached to the minutes of this meeting and shall be made a part thereof for all intents and purposes. SECTION 4: Dale Ross, Mayor of the City of Georgetown, met with the Georgetown City Council, sitting as the Canvassing Board, to canvass the results of Runoff Election of the City of Georgetown, held on December 10 2019, and do hereby certify that the figures on this tabulation correspond with the election results provided by the Williamson County Elections Administrator.
