May 2022 - Precinct Results - Final Unofficial -Page 5 of 5 Page 9 of 11 Resolution No. ________________ Canvass of May 7, 2022 General Election Page 1 of 3 RESOLUTION NO. ________________ A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE ELECTION RETURNS AND DECLARING THE ELECTION RESULTS OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 7, 2022 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A COUNCIL MEMBER FOR DISTRICT 7 TO BE OFFICIAL WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas ordered a general election to be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 pursuant to Resolution No. 020822-D, for the purpose of electing Councilmembers for Districts 3, 4, and 7; WHEREAS, on May 7, 2022, an election was held for the following: To elect a Councilmember from the City of Georgetown Single-member District 7. The elections for Councilmembers from City of Georgetown Single-Member Districts 3 and 4 were cancelled by Resolution 030822-D because of unopposed candidates; and WHEREAS, the election officers who held said election have prepared the returns of the results thereof, and the returns have been delivered to the City Council; and WHEREAS, the official canvass of the returns of the election showed the following results: FOR COUNCILMEMBER DISTRICT 7 Ben Stewart 322 67.93% Jaquita Wilson-Kirby (write-in) 149 31.43% Write-in Uncertified 3 00.63% Total Votes Cast 474 100.00% NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN TEXAS, THAT: SECTION I. All of the findings contained in the preamble of this Resolution are found to be true and adopted as findings of fact. SECTION II. The City Council officially finds and determines that the election was duly called; that proper notice of the election was given in accordance with law; that the election was held in accordance with law; that returns of the results of the election have been made and delivered, and that the City Council has canvassed the returns, all in accordance with the law and the resolution calling the election. SECTION III. The official canvass of the returns, duly and legally made, reflects the following: Ben Stewart was duly elected as Councilmember, District 7.
