Street Maintenance Sales Tax Fact Sheet
City of Georgetown
Election Day: November 6, 2018
0.25 percent sales tax dedicated for street maintenance
In 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014, Georgetown voters approved a quarter-of-one-cent
sales tax to be used only for street maintenance. Now it’s on the ballot again.
This proposition does not increase the sales tax rate. It does generate revenue to pay
for maintenance on streets all over the city.
The 0.25 percent sales tax funds most resurfacing work on city streets.
The sales tax for street maintenance is collected from anyone who shops in
Georgetown, not just homeowners.
Since April 2003, quarter-cent sales tax revenue of $31 million has been dedicated to
street maintenance in Georgetown.
The City’s street network has increased 231 percent since 1994.
222 lane miles of City streets in 1994
734 lane miles of City streets in 2018
Election Day: Nov. 6
