Now it’s on the ballot again. This proposition does not increase the sales tax rate. It does generate revenue to pay for maintenance on streets all over the city. The 0.25 percent sales tax funds most resurfacing work on city streets. The sales tax for street maintenance is collected from anyone who shops in Georgetown, not just homeowners. Since April 2003, quarter-cent sales tax revenue of $31 million has been dedicated to street maintenance in Georgetown.
