The system is planned for use starting with the first Council meeting in May. Polasek, Transportation Services Director ITEM SUMMARY: Sid Covington, Chair of the Board of Directors, will present an update on activities of the Lone Star Rail District. Recent activities include the creation of the Rail Director position, re-branding of the Austin San Antonio Intermunicipal Rail District to the LStar brand, progress on the passenger and freight rail relocation projects, and initiating the enivronmental process for rail relocation. Polasek, AICP Cover Memo Item # B City of Georgetown, Texas April 26, 2011 SUBJECT: Discussion on the City’s Five-Year Strategic Planning Process and 2012 Council Budget Priorities -- Laurie Brewer, Finance Director; Micki Rundell, Chief Financial Officer and Paul Brandenburg, City Manager ITEM SUMMARY: Staff continues to work to prepare for the upcoming 2012 Budget. Preparation of the update to the 5 Year Strategic Plans has been on-going since February. The 5-year Capital Improvements Program is being finalized and will be brought before the Council on June 14. Base budgets and requests for increases to maintain service levels have been finalized by departments and are currently being reviewed by the City manager. This presentation will provide council with the highlights of the 5 year operational strategic plans and will present conservative models for the major funds for the upcoming five years. Funding issues and strategies will be discussed to facilitate a discussion of Council priorities for the upcoming budget year. FINANCIAL IMPACT: A forecast of funding strategies needed to address some of the upcoming issues will be discussed. More detailed revenue projections will be presented later in the upcoming budget process for the 2012 fiscal year.
