Discussion and possible direction to staff regarding CARTS Phase 1 and potential Phase 2 pilot program
regarding the interlocal agreement to provide transit services -- Edward G. Polasek, AICP, Principal Planner
and Elizabeth Cook, Director, Planning and Development
ITEM SUMMARY:
At the October 14, 2008 City Council meeting, staff was directed to work with the Transit/Fixed Route
Working Group and CARTS to create a pilot program for transit to begin as soon as possible. The express
intent was to use the $75,000 approved in the 2008/09 Budget for transit study and development, to create a
pilot program and have it in place by December that will gauge interest in bus service and measure
ridership. On November 11, 2008, the City Council approved Phase 1 of the Pilot Program. Ridership
numbers and a potential Phase 2 will be discussed at the Workshop.
