SUBJECT:
Public Hearing on the proposed 2012/13 Annual Budget -- Micki Rundell, Chief Financial Officer and Paul
E. Brandenburg, City Manager
ITEM SUMMARY:
This hearing will provide an overview of the proposed 2012/13 Annual Budget and opportunity for public
comment.
The proposed 2012/13 Annual Budget workbook and final summary are available for public review at the
Public Library, located at 402 West 8th Street or at City Hall located at 113 E. 8th Street. The information is
also available on the City’s website.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
This public hearing fulfills the requirements of the Texas Local Government Code, Section 102.006
providing public comment on the proposed 2012/13 Annual Budget.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The proposed 2012/13 Budget is $189,832,961 as directed by the Council at the July 24, 2012
meeting. Projects and initiatives in the 2012/2013 budget include design work for the new Public Safety
Operations and Training Facility on DB Wood Road, staffing and operations costs for the new Fire Station 5
on DB Wood Road, an update of the Downtown Master Plan, construction of the Arts and Culture Center in
the old fire station, land for a future park on the west side, reconstruction of the Creative Playscape,
completion of hike and bike trail expansion along Scenic Drive, upgrades to San Jose Park and McMaster
Fields, new sidewalks, and funding for employee compensation based on a market study.
