PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, childhood cancer is the number one disease killer and second leading cause of
death (exceeded only by accidents) of children; and
WHEREAS, on any given school day, 46 young people, or two classrooms of students are
diagnosed with cancer; and
WHEREAS, every year more than 15,000 children are diagnosed with cancer; and
WHEREAS, one in every 285 persons in the United States will develop cancer before their
20th birthday; and
WHEREAS, every year over 3,000 children under the age of 20 lose their lives to cancer; and
WHEREAS, our children are our most precious resource and are truly golden in our hearts.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS,
do hereby proclaim September 2015, as
NATIONAL CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
