HomeMy WebLinkAboutJoan King Day_05.2015 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Joan King was the first woman to serve on the City of Georgetown City Council; and WHEREAS, Joan King encouraged and inspired many other women to become involved, serving the City of Georgetown as Councilmembers, Boards and Commissions members and on many other levels of municipal government; and WHEREAS, Mrs. King was active in the Civil Rights movement in Georgetown, promoting equality in our community; and WHEREAS, Joan King served on the initial Planning & Zoning Commission and was instrumental in establishing the City’s baselines in Planning and Development; and WHEREAS, Mrs. King was a valued member of the initial Library Committee which established the guidelines for the future of the City of Georgetown Public Library; and WHEREAS, the Citizens of the City of Georgetown will be forever grateful for Mrs. King’s dedicated service to our community; and WHEREAS, the Citizens of the City of Georgetown continue to benefit from Joan King’s dedication, responsiveness, helpfulness, knowledge, experience and expertise. NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, May 12th, 2015 as JOAN KING DAY In Georgetown, Texas
