HomeMy WebLinkAboutGeorgetown High School State Bowling Champs_04.2016 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Georgetown High School Varsity Eagles Bowling Team won the 2016 Texas High School Team State Championship in San Antonio on Sunday, April 3, 2016, the first bowling state title for Georgetown High School; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown High School Varsity Eagles Bowling Team is ranked #1 in the state out of 160 schools that have varsity bowling programs; and WHEREAS, Georgetown High School Varsity Eagles Bowling Team was undefeated throughout the season which qualified them for regionals, where they placed 2nd, qualifying them for the State Tournament; and WHEREAS, in the championship match Georgetown lost game one 191-199, won game two 202-191, and won game three 191-181, with all three games coming down to the 10th frame; and WHEREAS, in the final round of the state championship, Georgetown beat O’Conner in a tough and exciting match. After losing the first of three games in the 10th frame, Georgetown stayed consistent and won the next two games to take the State Championship. All three games were decided in the 10th frame with a total difference of just 13 pins; and WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown congratulates the Georgetown High School Varsity Eagles Bowling Team Members Devin Dapra, Matt Gray, Jim Hanna, Aaron Ruiz, Bobby Smith and Cody Stephens and coaches John Hood and Johnny Smith; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim April 3rd as GEORGETOWN HIGH SCHOOL STATE BOWLING CHAMPIONS DAY In Georgetown, Texas
