PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Ian Perez earned 32 Merit Badges, is certified in Wilderness and Remote First Aid/ CPR, is an
Outdoor Ethics Leave No Trace Trainer, earned the National Medal for Outdoor Achievement, was elected by
his peers into the Order of the Arrow Tonkawa 99 Lodge and served as Brotherhood Chairman; and
WHEREAS, Scouting officials confirm that Ian Perez is only the second Boy Scout in more than 100 years
in the Central Texas area to be recognized for his leadership experience by being nominated and inducted
into the BSA National Youth Leadership Society; and
WHEREAS, through his Boy Scout training, Ian Perez has performed over 225 community service hours,
spent 168 nights camping, hiked over 242 miles, backpacked over 56 miles through the mountains of
Philmont Scout Ranch, canoed/ portaged over 88 miles across 40 lakes in the Northern Tier Boundary Waters
Canoe Area Wilderness, and spent over 10 nights winter camping and snowboarding at the Philmont Scout
Ranch Winter Adventure (several of these nights were spent camping in snow shelters at 9,000 feet altitude at
temperatures as low as negative 14 degrees); and
WHEREAS, Ian Perez conceptualized, planned, and executed leadership to a team of 28 Scouts, volunteer
adults, and volunteer high School students in carrying out an Eagle Scout Service Project, performing over
351 service hours toward Conservation within Georgetown, Texas; and
WHEREAS, Ian Perez has achieved the Rank of Eagle Scout.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS,
do hereby proclaim August 17, 2016 as
EAGLE SCOUT IAN PEREZ DAY
