PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Inner Space Cavern opened for tours in July of 1966 after the cave was discovered by
the Texas Highway Department during the construction of IH35; and
WHEREAS, the discovery of Ice Age animals inside Inner Space Cavern makes it an important
fossil locality due to the several different time periods represented; and
WHEREAS, Inner Space Cavern is an important geological site where many types of speleothems
are displayed; and
WHEREAS, public education of natural sciences is a very important aspect of tours within Inner
Space Cavern; and
WHEREAS, Inner Space Cavern provides a significant influence in the promotion of Georgetown
through tourism.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS, do hereby proclaim June 9, 2016 as:
INNER SPACE CAVERN DAY
