HomeMy WebLinkAboutBoy Scouts Proclamation_02.2017 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Boys Scouts of America is 107 years old and has served our Nation in the development of young men and women into lives of service into their communities; and WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America has been at the forefront of instilling timeless values in youth since its founding in 1910; and those are found in the word of the Scout Law: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent; and WHEREAS, this national youth movement has made serving others, through its values-based program, its mission and development of life skills and leadership skills a worthy objective; and WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America is committed to helping millions of youth succeed by providing the support, friendship and mentoring necessary to live a happy and fulfilling life; and WHEREAS, the local Scouting District helps make Georgetown a better place to live; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, February 28, 2017 as BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA DAY In Georgetown, Texas
