PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Boys Scouts of America is 107 years old and has served our Nation in the development
of young men and women into lives of service into their communities; and
WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America has been at the forefront of instilling timeless values in youth
since its founding in 1910; and those are found in the word of the Scout Law: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful,
Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent; and
WHEREAS, this national youth movement has made serving others, through its values-based
program, its mission and development of life skills and leadership skills a worthy objective; and
WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America is committed to helping millions of youth succeed by
providing the support, friendship and mentoring necessary to live a happy and fulfilling life; and
WHEREAS, the local Scouting District helps make Georgetown a better place to live; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, February 28, 2017 as
BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA DAY
