PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Eric Lashley has been named a 2016 Person of the Year by the Williamson County Sun;
and
WHEREAS, in June, Lashley marked his 20th year with the Georgetown Public Library, 16 of them at
the helm, leading staff and volunteers who are dedicated to open and equal access to information,
technology, lifelong learning, cultural enrichment and the joys of reading; and
WHEREAS, Lashley’s leadership of the City’s arts and culture efforts has resulted in the Texas
Commission on the Arts designation for our Cultural District, made Georgetown more beautiful through
public art projects, including sculpture and murals, and brought City staff together with citizens and local
arts nonprofits to foster collaboration and improved quality of life for all through the arts; and
WHEREAS, Lashley has worked to connect people experiencing homelessness and other economic
disadvantages with programs designed to help them, created a learning environment for preschoolers and
their parents and has implemented a bike share program, a bookmobile and public computer services; and
WHEREAS, Lashley is a devoted, compassionate and intelligent leader who turns outward to look at
the community and assess their needs; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of our community benefit greatly from Eric’s talents, compassion,
knowledge, experience and expertise.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS, do hereby offer a sincere thank you and pay special tribute to
