HomeMy WebLinkAboutNative Plant Week 2017_09.2017 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the third week of October was signed into law as the Texas Native Plant Week on June 16, 2009, having passed both houses unanimously; and WHEREAS, native Texas plants in gardens, landscaping and habitats help sustain nature at a time when the “wild and natural” are disappearing, helping to sustain a healthy ecosystem by supporting a biodiversity of plant and animal life, a balance that nature intended; and WHEREAS, the Williamson County Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas has honored the third week of October by donating books about Texas native plants to various libraries in the County and providing pertinent information about the plants at tables in the libraries; and WHEREAS, the Williamson County Chapter of the Native Plant Society would like to inform the citizens of Georgetown of the event and of the importance of our native plants; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim the week of October 15th through October 21st, 2017 as NATIVE PLANT WEEK In Georgetown, Texas
