HomeMy WebLinkAboutSevere Weather Awareness Month_03.2017 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, each year, Texas residents face the threat of severe weather events such as tornadoes, thunderstorms, flooding, extreme temperatures, lightning and hurricanes, all with potential impact to life and property; and WHEREAS, with the continued population growth in our area, the chance for severe weather causing property damage, personal injury, loss of life and destruction within our community increases; and WHEREAS, it is vital to have an effective public outreach program highlighting all types of severe weather risks and a preparedness campaign that educates citizens and visitors in Texas; and WHEREAS, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, along with its local, state and federal partners, volunteer and professional organizations, elected leaders and news media, is committed to educating Texas citizens and visitors about severe weather preparedness so they may better protect themselves, their families and their businesses; and WHEREAS, the City of Georgetown appreciates the cooperation of the Federal Emergency Management Association, the National Weather Service, the Texas Division of Emergency Management and the news media in raising awareness about the importance of being prepared for severe weather. NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim the month of March, 2017 as SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS MONTH In Georgetown, Texas
