PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Verna Oehlbeck was born on January 6, 1916, the Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord
Jesus Christ; and
WHEREAS, Verna Oehlbeck was a loving mother and wife and shared her Faith with those around
her; and
WHEREAS, Verna is an inspiration to many, with the ability to be compassionate and to comfort
with great kindness; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Oehlbeck recently taught her daughter Diane to crochet prayer shawls which started
a Prayer Shawl Ministry for the sick at St. Helen’s Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS, Verna says the secret to her longevity is her Faith, her children and chocolate.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS, do hereby proclaim January 8, 2017 as
VERNA OEHLBECK DAY
