HomeMy WebLinkAboutCrime Victims Rights Week_04.2018 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, in 2017 alone, 92,734 Texans became the victims of violent crime, 1,408 in Williamson County; and WHEREAS, offenders prey on our daughters and sons, sisters and brothers, parents grandparents, friends and neighbors; and WHEREAS, our crime victims’ advocates work tirelessly in police departments, sheriff’s offices, crime scenes, prosecutor’s offices, schools, neighborhoods and youth custody facilities, giving faces and names to the statistics of crime and opening our eyes to the reality of violence and helping to plant seeds of hope that can last a lifetime; and WHEREAS, we need to urge all citizens to pause and remember the victims of crime and join in honoring those who serve crime victims and their families by working to reduce violence, to assist those harmed by crime and to make our homes and communities safer places to live . NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim April 8, through April 14, 2018, as CRIME VICTIMS’ RIGHTS WEEK in Georgetown, Texas
