PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Evelyn McLean began her law enforcement career in 1991 as a Communications
Operator for the Pflugerville Police Department; and
WHEREAS, McLean graduated from the Travis County Sheriff’s Academy in September 1993 and
was certified as a Peace Officer November 1, 1993; and
WHEREAS, after she served as a Police Officer for the City of Manor and the City of Taylor, the City
of Georgetown was fortunate to hire McLean as a Police Officer in January of 1997; and
WHEREAS, Evelyn McLean was promoted to Sergeant in August, 1999, promoted to Lieutenant in
April, 2001, received her Master Peace Officer Certification in December, 2004, and was promoted to Captain
in October 2010, making her the City of Georgetown’s first female Captain; and
WHEREAS, McLean has been a devoted, compassionate and intelligent leader who turns outward to
look at the community and assess their needs; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Georgetown have benefited greatly from Evelyn’s talents, knowledge,
experience and expertise and she will be sorely missed.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS, do hereby proclaim, May 31, 2018 as
EVELYN MCLEAN DAY
