HomeMy WebLinkAboutMother Earth Day_03.2018 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Global Embassy of Activist for Peace and Dr. William Soto, pronounce Mother Earth, the worldwide recognition of Mother Earth, as a living being, and as such, subject to inalienable rights that must be respected, in order to preserve the future of the human beings and other living beings in the common home we have: the planet, Mother Earth; and WHEREAS, there are numerous international instruments, from the scientific community and amended resolutions of the General Assembly of the United Nations, where the conditions of Mother Earth is given to this Planet, which is a LIVING BEING, which has life and gives life; and WHEREAS, all human beings are children of Mother Earth, because we did not create her, our physical bodies come from her, and Mother Earth gives us a home and provides everything we need to subsist: water, air, food, medicine, and resources to work and strengthen our economy; and WHEREAS, as a living being and free being, Mother Earth is entitled to rights, just like all living beings; rights that must be recognized, and protected by every human being; and WHEREAS, we are called to love, respect, keep, and protect Mother Earth; we must behave fraternally with her and every living being that inhabits her, and that is the responsibility of every human being, as beings aware of our actions, to work towards the restoration of Mother Earth, and preserve her heritage for present and future generations. NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim March 31, 2018 as MOTHER EARTH DAY In Georgetown, Texas
