HomeMy WebLinkAboutBleeding Disorders Awareness Month_03.2019 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, The Texas Bleeding Disorders Coalition serves as a unified voice for the bleeding disorders community of Texas. They work to ensure patients with rare genetic bleeding disorders have access to high quality medical care at Hemophilia Treatment Centers, access to all clotting medications, and access to the ancillary services; and WHEREAS, these bleeding disorders, which share the inability to form a proper blood clot, are characterized by extended bleeding after injury, surgery, or trauma; and WHEREAS, the Federal Department of Health and Human Services designated March 2016 as National Bleeding Disorders month. And members have currently filed a bill in the Senate and the House to recognize March as Bleeding Disorders Awareness month in perpetuity; and WHEREAS, this Awareness Month will foster a greater sense of community and shared purpose among individuals with all inheritable bleeding disorders and will elevate awareness of and engagement in the inheritable bleeding disorders journey beyond our community to the general public, enabling the prevention of illness, unnecessary procedures, and disability; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim March 2019 as BLEEDING DISORDERS AWARENESS MONTH In Georgetown, Texas
