HomeMy WebLinkAboutMain Street Baptist 30th Anniversary_10.2019 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Main Street Baptist Church has engaged in local and global missions, sent teams to Rockport and other Texas cities to help Hurricane Harvey victims, and recently sent teams to Trinidad and Mexico; and WHEREAS, the church assists with The Prayer Collective to provide shower facilities and clothes to the homeless; contributes to The Caring Place for the needy, provides a choral group for Faith in Action’s benefit concert; offers a spiritual twelve-step Life Recovery fellowship, and helps support Oak Ridge Disciple House in Florence for men recovering from addictions; and WHEREAS, the Church ministers to children of all ages with programs including the Children’s Center; the Angel Tree Ministry to children, volunteer tutors in Georgetown; a free Easter egg hunt on the Courthouse lawn, a free Masquerade Bash as a safe alternative to trick-or-treating, a Vacation Bible School and Youth Ministry programs; and WHEREAS, the Church provides outreach to wounded warriors through Legacy Outfitters, a Men’s Ministry with sports events, a Women’s Ministry with retreats, listening ears through the Stephen Ministry and S.O.U.L. Sisters, gifts for newborns and hospital patients, hospitality outposts in neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, the Church recently restored the historic sanctuary which stands as a recognizable structure at the south entry into the Historic District of the City and the church family is celebrating their 30th Anniversary in the historic Main Street Baptist Church building. NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim, October 6, 2019 as MAIN STREET BAPTIST CHURCH DAY In Georgetown, Texas
