PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Josiah Taylor brought his family to Georgetown in the late 1840s to run a
mercantile business on the square; and
WHEREAS, Emzy Taylor married Margaret Corinna Henderson of Round Rock on July 7,
1864 and purchased the lots on Block 25 in 1869; and
WHEREAS, Emzy was involved in many civic and business enterprises in the city of
Georgetown including the volunteer fire department, city waterworks, banking and
railroads; and
WHEREAS, the Cooper-Taylor House has been has been an integral part of the community
of Georgetown for 150 years; and has been passed down through the women of the
family.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS, do hereby proclaim, Sunday, May 19, 2019 as
COOPER-TAYLOR DAY
