PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Georgetown Animal Shelter has maintained no-kill status for the fifth year
in a row, which means it has adopted or fostered more than 90 percent of its animals; and
WHEREAS, the Shelter has a 94 percent save rate and has the best possible outcome for any
animal by sending animals to rescue groups when needed, conducting behavior assessments,
seeking trainers, providing medical care and presenting animals on social media; and
WHEREAS, more than 25 percent of the animals in the shelter were returned to their
owners, including 328 dogs and 41 cats; 807 animals were adopted or transferred to rescue
groups; 619 cats and dogs were vaccinated at low-cost vaccine clinics; 73 cats were spayed or
neutered, and 132 volunteers recorded 7,064 volunteer hours; and
WHEREAS, the Georgetown Animal Shelter is a temporary home to 29 dogs, 22 cats, 9
caring employees and 132 pet-loving volunteers.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS,
do hereby recognize, on January 28, 2020
