HomeMy WebLinkAboutExtra Mile Day for Fire and EMS_11.2020 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Georgetown, Texas is a community which acknowledges that a special vibrancy exists within the entire community when its individual citizens collectively “go the extra mile” in personal effort, volunteerism, and service; and WHEREAS, Georgetown Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department had approximately twenty-five members that selflessly served the community on their “off days” to assist the community during their COVID response. This involved the staffing of COVID test clinics, and a task force dedicated to assisting vulnerable elderly care facilities. They continued to make themselves available throughout the weeks and months of testing and were willing to help even when we received short notice that a facility needed testing or were given last-minute rescheduling of a test site. Of this elite group of folks, the GFD had seven that made additional commitments to serve above-and-beyond the call of duty, giving of their time and care. NOW, THEREFORE, I, DALE ROSS, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim, November 1, 2020 as EXTRA MILE DAY and I recognize Mikey Braff, Matthew Brown, Priscilla Coffman, Colby Lyons, Taylor Stewart, Spencer Wood and Rick ZuaZua, as Extra Mile Change-Makers for their efforts and commitment to making this community a better place.
