1. Extra-mile change makers: From the Georgetown Fire and Medical Services Department (GFD): GFD had approximately twenty-five members that selflessly served the community on their “off days” to assist the community during their COVID response. This involved the staffing of COVID test clinics, and a task force dedicated to assisting vulnerable elderly care facilities. They continued to make themselves available throughout the weeks and months of testing. They were willing to help even when we received short notice that a facility needed testing or were given last-minute rescheduling of a test site. Of this elite group of folks, the GFD had seven that made additional commitments to serve above and beyond the call of duty, giving of their time and care:
• Mikey Braff
• Matthew Brown
• Priscilla Coffman
• Colby Lyons
• Taylor Stewart
• Spencer Wood
• Rick ZuaZua
2. Extra-mile change maker: Bob Weimer, Helping Hands This individual and organization has provided to the community during this pandemic year, over 178 night stays at emergency housing; paid 37+ medical and prescription bills; paid 34 phone bills and provided over $4,863 in rent assistance and $1059 in utility assistance. 3. Extra-mile change maker: Mickie Ross, at her expense and time, sewed over three hundred reusable, personal COVID-19 masks and donated 100% of the proceeds to BIG, The Caring Place and Helping Hands – all local non-profits who were impacted financially during this time.
