HomeMy WebLinkAboutLinda McCalla Proclamation_03.2021 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Linda McCalla was Georgetown’s first Main Street Manager in 1982 and within three years under her leadership, Georgetown saw $10 million in private sector reinvestment in downtown with dramatic visual results and revitalization, capturing state and national attention; and WHEREAS, Linda’s efforts to promote the downtown and old town historic districts were the foundation and inspiration for the city’s first Downtown Master Plan and Design Guidelines, and WHEREAS, Linda has served on many city boards and committees, including the Main Street Advisory Board, the Historic and Architectural Review Commission, as past president for Preservation Georgetown, and most recently the 2030 Comprehensive Plan Update Committee where she was instrumental in keeping the needs of historic preservation and community character as a goal of the city to protect our identified historic resources; and WHEREAS, the Texas Historical Commission recognized Linda McCalla as the 2021 recipient of the Anice B. Read Award of Excellence in Community Heritage Development at its Annual Real Places Conference in January 2021, recognizing Linda for exemplary work in community revitalization, preservation planning and protection. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSH SCHROEDER, MAYOR OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby recognize Linda McCalla for her dedicated service and commitment to this community.
