HomeMy WebLinkAboutRandy Hartford Retirement Proclamation_05.2021 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Randy Hartford began his career as a meter reader with Texas Power & Light (TP&L) June 1, 1981, in his hometown of Denison, Texas. In 1984, Randy received a promotion to billing clerk and in 1985 became part of the first customer contact center for TP&L. Randy then worked in various roles within the contact center over the next 14 years; and WHEREAS, Randy become a trainer in the training department and developed the first ever call recording and quality assurance evaluation process for the contact centers, complete with multiple cassette tape players. Randy then moved to the contact center in Waco, Texas a supervisor of the training. While in Waco, he continued to train new hires while also supervising a team of referral call employees. From there he became an HR Generalist in the contact center and helped merge the two call center cultures as the merger of TXU and Lone Star Gas took place; and WHEREAS, in 2004 Randy moved to the job he said he always wanted, with the acquisition of the gas side of the business by Atmos Energy taking place and he and his wife moved to Georgetown. It is in this role, as Manager of Public Affairs, where he will hang up his hard-hat on the 40th anniversary of his hiring. During his tenure as Manager of Public Affairs and the Coordinating Manager of Public Affairs, Randy also served on many business and non-profit boards of directors and served on many organizations; and WHEREAS, Randy was married to his high school sweetheart Melanie, and they have two sons, Ryan and Alex. After retiring, Melanie and Randy plan to travel, and there might be a little golf, though most folks say what he does on a golf course can hardly be classified as “playing golf;” and WHEREAS, the Mayor and the City of Georgetown would like to pay tribute to Randy Hartford and thank him for 40 years of dedicated service, professionalism, and always friendly demeanor. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSH SCHROEDER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, do hereby proclaim, May 26, 2021 as RANDY HARTFORD APPRECIATION DAY In Georgetown, Texas
