HomeMy WebLinkAboutChristi Center 3th Anniversary_10.2022 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, in 2022, the Christi Center marks 35 years of providing hope and healing to central Texans mourning loss of loved ones; and WHEREAS, the Christi Center’s core values include: ● Providing ongoing grief support to individuals and families as long as needed; ● Educating and increasing community awareness on issues affecting the bereaved; ● Building community partnerships to better support central Texans in grief; and WHEREAS, as noted by a client mourning the loss of her son, “Grief is expensive”, Christi Center services - including in-person and online group therapeutic sessions for adults, teens and children - have been and will always be provided free to those who need them; and WHEREAS, operating at the Georgetown Community Resource Center, the Christi Center is part of Georgetown’s solution to healing from the COVID pandemic, having provided support and services to 13,275 individuals in 2021 - and to over 100,000 since its founding - and continues to work with over 150 community agencies in service to central Texans; and WHEREAS, Susan and Don Cox founded the Christi Center out of the loss of their daughter Christi Lanahan, and have since provided selfless commitment, leadership, and support so others could find comfort, hope and healing. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSH SCHROEDER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TX do hereby proclaim October 26, 2022 to be Christi Center Day in Georgetown Texas and honor founders Susan and Don Cox for 35 years of support.
