HomeMy WebLinkAboutEngaged Leader Program - Council Recognition Script_10.2022Mayor’s Script for Engaged Leader Program Recognition Investment in our City of Georgetown employees is a top priority. As such, the Engaged Leaders Program was created in 2018. The program is designed to develop city employees from all departments to be leaders from their current roles and provide greater insight into our organizational functions. Each year employees apply to participate in the program. Selected participants for each year’s cohort are individuals that have a history of high performance, a genuine interest in strengthening their knowledge base within the city, and a strong interest in professional development and City engagement. 2022’s Engaged Leader graduates are the fifth program cohort that includes 21 employees from the Communications, Economic Development, Electric, Fire, IT, Library, Parks & Rec, Planning, Public Works, Systems Engineering, & Water Utility departments. Today we celebrate and recognize these graduates who built connection as a team at the City’s ropes challenge course, developed professional presentation skills, learned about principles of public service, municipal finance, outward mindset training, and developed skills in leading highly effective conversations, group decision making processes, and planning for successful project implementation. Here’s what a few of the leaders from the 2022 cohort had to say when asked how participating in the Engaged Leaders Series Program has helped them personally and/or professionally: “Personally, I feel like I have a greater bond with the City as an organization through the relationships I have built and the knowledge that was learned. Professionally, I have a new defined reality of leadership, and am active in applying the lessons learned”. "I have learned more about different departments and what people do. I enjoyed getting to know people and how their strengths contribute to the awesome organization in which we work in”. “This was a great opportunity to learn new skills and to get to engage with others in the City and create friendships and understanding across teams”. "The Engaged Leaders Series Program has helped me map out my career with the City of Georgetown”. 2022 graduates include: Amanda Still Economic Development Becca Sexton Library Beth Wade Communications Carl Boatright Fire Chris Logan Systems Engineering Chris Mays Systems Engineering Cindy Medrano Communications Danielle Dutra Public Works Danielle Ellis Electric Derrick C Taylor Finance Jacey Stewart Water James Davis IT Jen Bettiol Public Works Jonathan (Moose) Morales Systems Engineering Joshua Ramirez Water Kress Carson Electric Michael Watson IT Ryan Clark Planning Ryan Wong Parks & Rec Steve Byrd IT Tony Medlock Water On behalf of the City Council I’d like to recognize and thank the 2022 Engaged Leader graduates for their commitment to professional growth and their success in this program.
