HomeMy WebLinkAboutNational Child Abuse Prevention_04.2022 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, during the month of April 2022, the City of Georgetown observes National Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect, and create strong communities to support the strengthening and healing of the abused children and their non-offending family members; and WHEREAS, each year, hundreds of children are confirmed victims of child abuse and neglect, and its prevention is a community-wide responsibility; and WHEREAS, the “Go-Blue Committee” (which includes members of B.A.C.A, CASA of Williamson County, Cedar Park Police Department, Georgetown Police Department, Round Rock Police Department, Round Rock ISD Police Department, Leander Police Department, The Georgetown Project, Williamson County Sheriff’s, Juvenile Services, Starry, Georgetown ISD and Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center) serves hundreds of abused and neglected children, as well as their non-offending family members, each year; and WHEREAS, it is important to remember that children are our future, and we must nurture and protect them, and provide a safe environment in which they can grow and prosper; and WHEREAS, I urge all citizens to recognize this month by dedicating ourselves to the task of improving the quality of life for all children and families by recognizing; and, hereby recognize the “Go Blue Committee” for its outstanding service to protect the unprotected, seek justice against child maltreatment and encourage all citizens to be vigilant in recognizing and reporting child abuse in Georgetown, Texas.. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSH SCHROEDER, MAYOR OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim April 2022 as NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION AND AWARENESS MONTH In Georgetown, Texas
