PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, since 1981 National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is celebrated across the
U.S. to recognize those who help save lives in times of personal, local or national crisis; and
WHEREAS, the work performed by public safety telecommunicators is nothing short of
extraordinary, and the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted their dedication and the lifesaving nature
of their work. The men and women who serve as Public Safety Telecommunicators, such as 911
operators and dispatchers, are often the first people contacted when emergency assistance is needed;
and
WHEREAS, 9-1-1 telecommunicators are the link between people calling for help in an
emergency situation and the emergency response agencies who arrive on the scene and are the true
backbone of the 9-1-1 system; and
WHEREAS, during emotional times and throughout the year, their diligent efforts, specialized
skills, calmness, and a caring presence are invaluable in ensuring help is on the way when it is needed
the most and they exemplify the motto, “Georgetown Cares”.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSH SCHROEDER, MAYOR
OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS,
do hereby proclaim April 10 through April 16, 2022 as:
PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK
In Georgetown, Texas
