HomeMy WebLinkAboutRotary Club of Georgetown 60th Anniversary_10.2022 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Rotary International was founded in 1905, and the Rotary Club of Georgetown was chartered on February 28, 1962, and through its motto “Service Above Self,” Rotary strives to be a model for all citizens; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown Rotary Club’s projects include an emphasis on youth through academic and vocational scholarships as well as leadership training, donating books to local libraries and forming Interact and Rotoract service clubs in GISD and Southwestern University; and WHEREAS, other projects include support of many local non-profit organizations, ramp builds, water projects, and other service projects; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown Rotary Club helps to bring recognition to Georgetown through the Field of Honor® and partnership arrangements with other Rotary Clubs throughout Central Texas and around the world, and is recognized internationally as a Rotary peace building club; and WHEREAS, the Rotary Club actively encourages good citizenship through the promotion of an integrity-based creed: “The Rotary Four Way Test”, and through participation of its members in various community events and service projects. NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSH SCHROEDER, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TX do hereby proclaim October 21, 2022 to be GEORGETOWN ROTARY CLUB DAY in honor of its 60th Anniversary
