HomeMy WebLinkAboutEagles Day 2_11.23.2009 P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, the coaches and the Georgetown “Fighting Eagles” football team are to be commended for their dedication and effort when they won their Bi-District Competition and went on to fight a tough battle in the Area Play-Offs; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown High School Band has been a “Sweepstakes Band” for the last 33 years and easily wins “Best Overall Band” in State Competitions; and WHEREAS, the award-winning Georgetown High School Eagles Drill Team is a hardworking group who provides year-round support for other Eagle activities; and WHEREAS, the Georgetown High School “All America” Eagle Cheerleaders have performed in a magnificent way, inspiring the team and the town, their “Georgie” Mascot received the “Most Spirited” All America Mascot Award and all 12 of the cheerleaders were nominated for All America Cheerleader; and WHEREAS, all these Eagles “never quit” and always personify “Eagle Fight Never Dies!” NOW, THEREFORE, I, MaryEllen Kersch, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, do hereby proclaim November 23, 1999, as: GEORGETOWN EAGLES DAY and say “Well Done!” to the students and faculty of the Georgetown High School because we know that the success of our youth promotes our community.
