AN RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, ADOPTING AND UPDATING THE
CITY'S POLICY FOR EXEMPTING FEES FOR CITY-
SPONSGRED EVENTS; REPEALING CONFLICTING
RESOLUTIONS; INCLUDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND
ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on August 10, 2023 the City Council of the City of Georgetown reviewed
the City's current pol:.cy of waiving fees for special events sponsored by the City of Georgetown;
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to update the City's written policy for exempting
certain fees for special events sponsored by the City of Georgetown; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Council and the City of Georgetown to establish a
systematic, fair, and consistent procedure for permit fee exemptions for special events sponsored
by the City of Georgetown, as set out herein.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF GEORGETOW-4, TEXAS:
Section 1. The meeting at which this resolution was approved was conducted in
compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.
Section 2. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are hereby
found and declared to be true and correct and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly
made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim.
Section 3. The City's policy for identifying and exempting certain fees for City -sponsored
events attached hereto as Exhibit A is hereby adopted.
Section 4. Al:. resolutions that conflict with the provisions of this resolution are hereby
repealed, and all other resolutions of the City not in conflict with the provisions of this resolution
shall remain in full force and effect.
Section 5. If any provision of this resolution, or application thereof, to any person or
circumstance, shall ')e held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or
application thereof, c f this resolution, which can be given effect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this resolution are hereby declared to be severable.
Section 6. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this resolution and the City Secretary to
attest. This resolution shall become effective and be in full force and effect immediately in
accordance with the provisions of the City Charter of the City of Georgetown.

POLICY FOR EXEMPTING FEES FOR
SPECIAL EVENTS SPONSORED BY THE
CITY OF GEORGETOWN
I. PURPOSE AND VITENT
The purpose and intent of this policy is to establish a systematic, fair, and consistent policy and
process for waiving certain fees for special events sponsored by the City of Georgetown.
II. OBJECTIVES
The policy of the City of Georgetown is to waive certain fees for City -sponsored special events.
III. CRITERIA
A. City -sponsored special events eligibility.
A special event is eligible for consideration as a City -sponsored special event if the special event
meets at least two (2) or more of the following criteria:
• Attracts tourists and visitors from outside the city.
• Utilizes City property, facilities, streets, parks, equipment, and personnel.
• Directly brings sales tax to the community.
• Contributes motel/hotel tax to the community by overnight stays.
• Encourages the promotion of the City's historical, natural, arts, or cultural assets.
B. City -sponsored special events previously approved by the City Council include:
• The Sertoma 4" of July Celebration
• The Christmas Stroll
• Field of Honor
• Juncteenth
• Fiesta Georgetown
• The Garden Club's Arbor Day Celebration and Flower Show

IV. FEES WAIVED.
City -sponsored special events are not exempt from obtaining a special event permit. The City -sponsored
special event sponsors are required to obtain a Special Event Permit in order to coordinate the usage of
facilities and/or other resources.
City -sponsored specK.l events will have the permitting processing fees waived.
V. CITY -SPONSORED SPECIAL EVENTS APPROVAL.
All City -sponsored special events shall be approved by the City Council to be designated as such.
