OF SAID GRDINAINC ;S r 1dOT' 1"v CGi�TFLI':T HL.<.EIilITI1 .' Be it ordained by the City :;ouncil of the City of Geo getown, Tex- as: 1st. That it is hereby ordered that vtiithin sixty days from and after the mail_ng of notices to the last knov�n address, that each pro- perty owner to ��hom a notice is so mailed shall build and extend the sidewalk that is nov, in front oi' his property so that the same shall come to the curb o- the intersecting street or streets, the said exten- sions to be made of the v:idth and length set out herein, and. the man- ner set out ht rein and in the ordinances herein refer•red to. That in the event that the said property ooners shall fail to so construct the said extensions of said sidewalks :n iront of their respective proper- t-es; then in that event the City shall construct the same, by Lnd thru the Street Jormissioner of the said City, or by and thru contracts made by him therefor, G.s to hire nay seem best; and for the said purpose the said Street Commissioner is fully ernpov,ered to make contracts for the Gor_struction of the said extensions. That in the event that the said property owner shall fail to construct the said extension, or exten- sions to the s ideti-.alk in l ront of his property, and the City shell con- struct the Lame, in wny of the manners herein provided, or that are pro- vided in the ordinances herein _-eferred to, then in that event the said several property ov.ners shall ea,;h be liable and bound to the said City for the cost wnd expense of constructing the extension or extensions to the side:.alk that is nor in front of the several properties of each; and that the said City shall have and hold a first lien on nd ag_:>inst each piece of property for the cost and expense of making the said extension or extensi cns to the s ide-valk that is novr in front of the said piece of property. That the said extensions shall be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of an ordinance passed and approved on the llth day of Decenber, 1905, and an amendment thereto passed and approved on the 9th day of 1-ay, 1921; in so far �s the provisions of the said ordinances are not in conflict h: rewith. 2nd. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of all other sidewalk ordinances htret©fore 'passed; but that where there may be a conflict between this and any other ordinance, this ordinance shall prevail. 4th. That if any part of this ordinance shall be held to be inva- lid, it shall not be construed to invalidate the entire ordinance; but in such event the invalid portion thereof sha11 be disregarded, and the remainder held to be valid. 5th: That the fact that on the streets herein named, the sidewalks do not come to the curb on the intersecting streets, creates an emer- gency and imperative public ntcessi.ty, that the rules be suspended and that it be passed under the emergency clause, and that it take effect from and after its passage: , Passed and approved this loth day of September, A.
