HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 05.08.1967 - Burning of Trash67 AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE BURNING OF TRASH AND WASTE MATERIALS WITHIN THE COR.- POItATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF GEOIt,GETOWN, TEXAS: PROGIBITING THE BURNING OF TRASH OR `"BASTE WITHIN THE SAID CITY; PRESCRIBING CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH TRASH AND WASTE MAY BE BURNED WIHIN SAID CITY: PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GOERGETOWN, TEXAS: Section 1. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to burn any trash, waste or rubbish within the city limits of the City of Georgetown, Texas, or to start or maintain fires of any character within such City of Georgetown, Texas. It is not in- tended hereby to prohibit the burning of trash or rubbish or waste in any stove or furnace within any building provided with proper flues or chimneys; but all fires are prohibited within said City save and except in stoves or furnaces within buildings. Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine of not less than $1.00 nor more than $50.00. Section 3. The fact that open fires are dangerous to surrounding buildings, and there are no regulations in the City of Georgetown prohibiting or regulating such fires, creates and is hereby declared to be an emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances to be read at three meetings before passage, and such rule is hereby suspended and this or- dinance shall become effective from and after its passage.
