ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF WEST 8TH
STREET LYING BETWEEN WEST STREET AND TI11BER STREET IN THE CITY
OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AS HEREIN SET FORTH.
BE_IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS:
WHEREAS, a petition has been made to the City Council by the Urban Renewal
Agency of the City of Georgetown, Texas and Martha Tanksley the owners of certain
property in Block No. 44 of the City of Georgetown, Texas and,
WHEREAS, said petition states that the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of
Georgetown, Texas has acquired sufficient property in said Block No. 44 of the
City of Georgetown, adjoining and North of 8th Street to sell lots out of the area
which has been acquired; that the Urban Renewal Plan as heretofore adopted by the
Urban Renewal Agency for the South -San Gabriel Project Area provides that 8th Street
will be a street 50 feet in width; that it will be necessary to vacate 15 feet off
of the North side of 8th Street lying between West Street and Timber Street, to
reduce the width of said street to 50 feet and to conform said street to said
Urban Renewal Plan.
AND WHEREAS, it appears that the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown,
Texas and Mrs. Martha Tanksley are the owners of all of the property adjacent to
the North side of 8th Street in said Block No. 44 and that said parties are petit-
ioners herein; that the Urban Renewal Plan for this portion of the City of Georgetown,
Texas does provide and call for West 8th Street to be 50 feet in width and that
it is necessary to vacate and abandon the North 15 feet of said street for said
purpose.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Georgetown,
Texas that the North fifteen (15) feet'of West 8th Street lying between West Street
and Timber Street be and the same is hereby vacated, closed and abandoned.
Read, passed and adopted by unanimous vote, this 22nd day of February, 1971.
