HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 71-17 - Abadoning Streets250 AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF TIMBER STREET LYING BETWEEN 7TH STREET AND 8TH STREET IN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS AS HEREIN SET FORTH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: WHEREAS, a petition has been made to the City Council by the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown, Texas and Ethel Houston, the owners of certain property in Block No. 44 of the City of Georgetown, Texas and, WHEREAS, said petition states that the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown, Texas has acquired sufficient property in said Block No. 44 of the City of Georgetown, adjoining and north of 8th Street to sell lots out of the area which has been acquired; that the Urban Renewal Plan as heretofore adopted by the Urban Renewal Agency for the South San Gabriel Project Area provides that Block No. 44 (or Block "M") shall be 245 feet wide in an Easterly and Westerly direction; that it will be necessary to vacate five feet off of the West side of Timber Street lying between 7th Street and 8th Street to conform said Block 44 (M) and said Street to said Urban Renewal Plan in said area. AND WHEREAS, it appears that the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown, Texas and Mrs. Ethel Houston are the owners of all the property adjacent to the West side of Timber Street in said Block No: 44 and that said parties are Petitioners herein. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas that the West five feet of Timber Street loin, between 7th Street and 8th Street be and the same is hereby vacated, closed a'ld abandoned.
