Hester presiding, the following aldermen and officials being pr present: City Yanager, Lee C. Black; Aldermen--J. R. Chastain, C. C. 7-ia Hamilton, .7. T'. Hoffman, Jr.; Sam F. IVilcox, and Sam F. Harris. Of- ficers: 7T. TT. Nunn, attorney; C. S. Sanders, assessor and collector; A. 71. fickle, marshall and Y. T. Cates, secretary. Cn motion of Alderma-n Chastr<.in the minutes of the last meeting were approved. The monthly report of Yanager Lee C. deck was read, together with the accounts for the month, which amounted to a total of 367:75Z On motion of Alderman T-ia.rris, the rep^rt was received and filed and payment of accounts approved. Aldetman S. F. Tilcox moved that the reports of the treasurer, Pssessor and collector and city mar -shall be received and filed. LCn motion of Alderman Chastain, the Council voted to furnish the electricity 66r the flood lights on the campus free as had been the cutom in previous years. TAX Ordinance Ordinance Committeeman Chastain prsented the tax ordinance for the ensuing year, and moved that the same be read. The motion v,,as seconded by Alderman Toffman, and was passed b1gathffioiffelY9 The Ordinance was read in full: Alderman Chastain than moved that the usual rules taht require ordinances be read in full at three consecutive r,eetiigs be susupended, that hereafter t::e said ordinance be read only by caption, on account of tine same containing an emergency cause, and that the said ordinance be passed to the second reading. 77fidF.r3naa:-_i Iarris seconded the motion. C, TIC'N9: "An Ordinance of the the City of Georgetovtm, Texas, pro- viding for the levying and collection of an advalorem tax of one and twenty-four (.,A.24) Dollars on each one hundred (�100.00) Dollars in valuation on all proper fty subjectbtO taxation in slid city for the year 1947 and providing for the application of same, when collected; and declaring an emergency." On motion of Alderman Hoffman, seconded by Alderman '7ileox9 the ordinance was passed to its third reading, the following being the vote: Ayes; Chastain, Hamilton, T?offman, 7a.rris, '7ilcox.
