HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 12.20.1973 - Abadoning a Portion of 15th and 16th Streets337 ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF FIFTEENTH STREET, DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "A" HERETO ATTACHED, AS WELL AS A 1PORTION OF SIXTEENTH STREET LYING BETWEEN THE GEORGETOWN RAILROAD AND EXTENDING WEST TO THE TERMINUS OF SAID SIXTEENTH STREET, IN THE CITY OF GEO'RGETOWN, TEXAS, AS HEREIN SET FORTH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCLL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: WHEREAS, a petition has been made to the City Council by the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown, the owners of certain property in Outlots 35, 36, 37, 38,.39, and 40, of the City of Georgetown, Texas: and WHEREAS, said petition states that the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown, has acquired all of the property surrounding that portion of Fifteenth Street described in Exhibit "A" hereto attached, and surrounding that portion of Sixteenth Street from the Georgetown Railroad right-of-way extending west to the terminus of said Sixteenth Street; and WHEREAS, the Urban Renewal Plan for this portion of the City of Georgetown, Texas, calls for development of the area hereinabove described, as a whole, and that in order for such development to proceed, it is necessary to vacate and abandon the above described portions of Fifteenth and Sixteenth streets; now, therefore, be it O RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, V that the portion of Fifteenth Street described in Exhibit "A" hereto attached, as wellas U that portion of Sixteenth Street lying between the Georgetown Railroad right-of-way on the east and extending west to the terminus of said Sixteenth Street, be and the same are hereby vacated, closed and abandoned. INTRODUC-ED AND PASSED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, on First Reading the loth day of December, 1973; and PASSED on Second and Final this 20th day of December, 1973. BEGINNING at a point where the North margin of West 15th Street intersects the South margin of the proposed re -location of West 15th Street, said point being on the North margin of Block D of the South San Gabriel Urban Renewal Addition, said point being S 47'33' E, 24.98 feet from the beginning of a curve to the left of the said proposed re -location of West 15th Street, and also being N 88052'W, 292.93 feet from the centerline of the Georgetown Railroad R.O.W.; THENCE CONTINUING with a curve to the left along the south margin of the proposed West 15th Street 73.17 feet along the arc of a curve to the left whose radius is 223.27 feet and whose central angJe is 181xle&.ees 46-=minutes 39 seconds and whose chord bears S 60009'E, and is 72.84 feet long, said point being where the proposed South margin of the re -located West 15-th Street intersects the South margin of the existing West 15th Street; 338 THENCE N 88052'W, along the South margin of the existing West 15th Street 558.78 feet to a point on the bank of the South San Gabriel River; THENCE N 1008'E, 35 feet to a point on the North margin of West 15th Street; THENCE S 88052'E, 494.90 feet along the North margin of the existing West 15th Street to the PLACE OF BEGINNING.
