HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 07.06.1970 - Abandoning Forest Street Between West 7th and West 8th31_0 R D I N A N C E AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING ALL OF FOREST STREET LYING BETWEEN WEST 7TH STREET AND WEST 8TH STREET IN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, AS HEREIN SET FORTH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: WHEREAS, a petition has been received from Mearl V. Leffler, et al the owners of adjoining lands in Blocks 42 and 43, City of Georgetown, and WHEREAS, the petition states that the portion of Forest Street lying between West 7th abd West 8th Streets has not been in use by the public for many years and, in fact, indications are that said block has never been graded or inproved or opened to public use, and WHEREAS, the petitioners state that they own lots 5, 6, 7 and 8 in Block 42 and Lots 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Block 43, %ity of Georgetown, being all of the land adjoining the portion of Forest Street which is requested to be vacated and closed and that they desire to redevelop the West half of Block 43 and that the locations of certain present and proposed buildings make it necessary that said block be closed and vacated. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, that the 700 block of Forest Street, being that portion of same lying between 7th and 8th Streets be and the same is hereby vacated, closed and aband- oned except that the City of Georgetown reserves for itself or for any utility company, the right to maintain, repair and replace any water, sewer or other utility line presently located in, upon or over said block.
