HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 06.09.1975 - Abadoning a Portion of West 3rd and West Streets46 ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A PORTION OF WEST THIRD STREET AND A PORTION OF WEST STREET IN THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS, DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "A" HERETO ATTACHED, AND A PORTION OF WEST STREET IN SAID CITY, DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT "B" HERETO ATTACHED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS: WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the City Council by the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown, and by Ora B. Gray and Agnes Wilson, acting by and through her duly appointed and acting Guardian, Ethel Marie Harrison, and by S. L. Jeffer- son and wife, Ella Jean Jefferson, with respect to certain properties situated in the Urban Renewal Project, South San Gabriel, Tex R-102; and WHEREAS, said petition states that the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of George- town, and the other property owners mentioned above, are the sole owners of all of Block 18 and all of Block 5, as well as that portion of Block 6 adjoining on the east the portion of West Street described in Exhibit "B" hereto attached, all of said blocks being of the Original Townsite of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas; and WHEREAS, the Urban Renewal Plan for this portion of the City of Georgetown calls for development of such Block 18 and Block 5 and a portion of Block 6, and certain portions of streets adjoinr6g such blocks, such portions of such streets being described in Exhibits "A" and "B" hereto attached, to be developed as a whole, and that in order for such develop- ment to proceed, it is necessary to vacate and abandon such portions of such streets; now therefore be it ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, that the portions of streets described in Exhibits "A" and "B" herto attached, be and the same are hereby vacated, closed and abandoned. and, WHEREAS, in order to avoid a thirty days' delay in making the lots out of such property available for construction of residences thereon, and it being represented to the City Council of the City of Georgetown by the Chairman and secretary of the Urban Renewal Agency that there are contractors ready to bid on said I ots and to construct homes for residents of the Urban Renewal Project Area and that at this time said Agency has no other land available from which to offer such lots, it is declared that there is an: emergency for this Ordinance to be passed on First Reading, and the same is so passed on First Reading, the Second reading being dispensed with for the reasons set forth herein. BEING the South 30 feet of West 3rd. Street adjacent to the North boundary line of Block 18 of the City of Georgetown, Texas; and the West 5 feet of WEST Street adjacent to the East boundary line of the said Block 18 of the City of Georgetown, Texas, and being more part- icularly described as follows: BEGINNING at the Northeast corner of Block 18 referred to above, said point being where the South margin of 3rd Street intersects the West margin of WEST STREET; THENCE South 240.00 feet along the East boundary line of the said Block 18 to the Southeast corner thereof, said point being on the North margin of 4th Street and on the West margin of WEST Street; THENCE East, 5.00 feet to a point; THENCE North, 270.00 feetvv.i,th a line parallel to the East boundary line of Block 18 and 5 feet East of the West margin of WEST Street, to a point in the center of 3rd. Street; THENCE West, at 5.00 feet a point on the West margin of WEST Street and continuing 240 feet for a total distance of 245.00 feet to a point in line with the West boundary line of Block 18; THENCE South, 30.00 feet to the Northwest corner of Block 18, and on the South margin of 3rd. Street; THENCE East, 240.00 feet along the North boundary line of Block 18 and the South margin of 3rd. Street to the PLACE OF BEGINNING. STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF WILLIAMSON KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: I, RUSSELL D. PARKER, do hereby certify that I did survey on the ground the above described tract of land and that to the best of my knowledge and belief, said description is true and correct. RUSSELL DON PARKER REGISTERED PUBLIC SURVEYOR NO. 1661 EXHIBIT "B" Being a portion of West Street in the City of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas, described as follows: BEGINNING at the Southeast corner of Block 5, Original Townsite of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas; THENCE North 240 feet along the East boundary of said Block 5, to the Northeast corner of said Block 5; THENCE East 60 feet to the Northwest corner of Block 6, Original Townsite of Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas; THENCE South 240 feet along the West boundary of said Block 6, to the Southwest corner of said Block 6; THENCE West 60 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
