HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 03.11.1963 - Workmen's CompensationZ_ AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AND MAKING APPLICABLE To TAB CITY OF GEORGETOWN THE PROVISIONS OF STATE LAW RELATING TO VORKYRNYS COTPENSATION INSURANCE F)R CITIES, T&INS, APP VILLACPS; PROVIDINP THAT THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN SHALL BE SELF -INSURING; PRO-TDIIG FOR NOTICES OF SuDE ACTION TO BE GIVEN; PROVID'�G FOR THP ADMINISTRATION THEREOF; AND DECLARING N EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WORGETOWN, TEXAS. Section 1. The provisions of Acts 053, 53rd Legislature of Vexas, page 05, Chapter 327, are hereby adopted and made applicable to the Cil of Georoetown and to all employsed thereof, effective the time and date reci ed in Section I 2 hereof. Section 2. By authority of said Act, the City of Georgetown hereby elects to be self -insuring, and from and after the lst. day of April f 1963 at 12:01 o'clock A. M., all employees of the City are hereby insured b1l the City in the Manner and to the extent authorized by said Act and the laws ijeferred to therein; and the City shall pay to any and all employees and to their Y! presentativen and beneficiaries, the compensation and benefits to which they maji become entitled from and after wid time and crate under the terms of said act lind the Workmen's Compensation laws of Texas made applicable by said Act to citles, towns and, villages adopting tts provisions. I Section . The City Yanager, on behalf of the City Council, Shall give written notice to all employees of the City that effective at the time and date recited in Section 2 herrof, the City has provided for horkmen's Compeasation insurance for all of its employees and for payment to each employee, his representatives and beneficiaries, the horkment's Compensation insurance benef Qs Provided byllaw. Section 4. The City tanager, on behalf of the City Council Ishall notify the industrial Accident Board of the State of Texas, of the enactaint of this Ordinance, and of its effective date, statinE in said notice Qe nature of the work performed by the various employees of the City, the apprAimate number of employees employed in each type of work, the estimated amount :f payroll for each type of work, the approximate total number of employees and thi approximate total amount of payroll. Section 5. This Ordinance shall be administered by the Oity !Manager, or under his supervision and direction, and he shall promulgate such rulles and prescribe such forms as may be necessary for its effecive administrationi Section 6. There is hereby established an account to be knorwi as the City of Georgetown Workmen's Compensation Account, from which shall be paid all costs, administrative expenses , charges, benefits, insurance and awNds authorized by the laws adopted and made applicable to the City of GeorEvtowi, by this Ordinance. The record of said account shall show the appropriations made ,hereto, all receopts from other sources, and all disbursements authorized iereby. Section an emergency is apparent for the immedia i l'e preservation of order, health, s5fety, and general welfare of the public reqyres that this Ordinance go into effect irmediately, and it is therefore ordained that it shall be effective from the date of its passage.
