HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 08.15.1963 - Bond ElectionUl NOTICE OF CITY BOND ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF'WILLIAMSON CITY OF GEORGETOVvN TO ALL RESIDENT, QUALIFIED PROPERTY TAXPAYING VOTERS OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOM, TEXAS, WHO 07�N TAXABLE PROPERTY IN SAID CITY AND VVHO HAVE DULY RENDERED THE SAME FOR TAXATION TAKE NOTICE that an election will be held in the City of Georgetown, Texas, on the 14th day of Se tember , 1963, to determine whether or not the City Council of said City shall be authorized to issue the bonds of the City of Georgetown in the folla,ring amounts and for the following purposes: $89,000 - Revenue Bonds for the purpose of constructing extensions and improvements to the City's waterworks system; $196,000 - Revenue Bonds for the purpose of constructing extensions and improvements to the City's sewer system; and which election was duly called and ordered by ORDER of the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, passed, adopted and approved on the 15th day of August, 1963, and which election order is made a part of this notice, and is in words and figures as follows, to wits C. ' 4 ORDER BY TT E CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEOR.GETOWN, T CALLING AN FLFCKON FOR THE AUTHORIZATION OF BOIv THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN IN THE FOLLOVGIING AMOUNTS FOR THE KLLO1WING PURPOSES: (1) t89,000 REVENUE V ,N UE BONDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING AND IMPROVEMENTS TO THE CITY'S W.ATER.WORKS SYSTEM (2) 4,196,000 REVENUE BOIMS FOR. THE PUR ��CO`�rNN2�TRUCTING TENSIONS AND IMPROVFI ENTS TO THE L�L"y;1�r�1ER SY STEMe. 4H REAS, the City Council of the City of Georget deems it necessary and advisable to issue the bonds of Georgetown in the amounts and for the purposes hereina THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF G ORGETOW'N, TEXASs 11 ,AND ,SE OF ITY'S , Texas, City of stated; CITY OF Section 1. That an election is hereby ordered o be held in the City of Georgetown, Texas, on the 14th day of September 1963, such date being not less than fifteen (15) nor mor� than thirty (30) days from the date of the adoption of this order, a 'which election the following propositions shall be submitted t4 the resident qualified property taxpaying voters of said City, who owi taxable property in the City and who have duly rendered the same or taxation, for their action thereupons PROPOSITION NO 1. Shall the City Council of the City of George wn, Texas, be authorized to issue 89,000 of revenue bonds of said City, maturing serially over a peridd of years not to exceed thirty (30) years from their date , earing interest at a rate not to exceed five per cent (�} per annum, for the purpose of constructing extensions and is ovements to: the City's waterworks system; said revenue bonds be special obligations of the City of Georgetown, payable as o both principal and interest from. and secured by a first lien on a d pledge of the revenues of the combined waterworks, sewer and ele 'trio light system, after deduction of reasonable operation and mainte 'ance expenses? PROPOSITION No. 2 Shall the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, be authorized to issue 19b,000 of "evenue bonds of said City, maturing serially over a periql of years not to exceed thirty (0) years from their"date, bearing interest'a rate not to exceed five per Bent( %) per annum, foW the purpose of constructing extensions and improvements to the Ci y's sewer system; said revenue bonds to be special oblications of the City of Georgetown, payable as to both principal and interest from and :secured by a first lien on and pledge of the revenues of the combined,waterworks, sewer and electric light system, after deduction of reas ble operation and maintenance expenses? Section 2. That the revenue bonds hereinabove mentioned in said Propositions, 11os. 1 and 2 are to be ratably secured in such manner that no one bond shall have priority of lien over any other bond, it being the intent hereof to provide for the creation of an indebtness against the City's combined waterworks, sewer and electric light system for the purposes stated in said Propositions Nos. 1-and 2, and such bonds submitted under such propositions as are approved by the qualified voters voting at the 6lection 'horein and hereby ordered, are to be issued in one or rAore installments, but as a single combined authorizations- and the holder or holders of such bonds shall never have the right to demand pay- ment thereof out of any funds raised or to be raised by taxation. Se'etion 3-- That said election shall be held at the FIRE STATIO14 in the City of Georgetown, Texas (all of said City being included in one election precinct) and the following named persons are hereby appointed managers thereof, to wits Mrs. Christina Biggs PRESIDING JUDGE Mr s. LIcAferty ASSISTANT JUDGE M-Niss Ruth Munson C LERK CLERK Absentee voting shall be conducted at the office of the City Secretary of the City of Georgetown, City Hall, Georgetown, Texas, and notice thereof shall be posted in said office at least twenty (20) days prior to the date fixed for said election. Section 4. That said election shall be held under the provisions of and in accordance with the laws governing the issuance of municipal bonds by cities, as provided in the General laws of the State of Texas and only resident qualified property taxpaying voters of the Oita of� Georgetown, Texas. who -own taxable property in said City and who have duly rendered the same for taxation, shall be allowed to vote® —Section 5- That the ballots for said election shall have written or printed thereon the followings OFFICIAL BALLOT FOR THE ISSUANCE OF 7VITERVIORKS SYSTEM IlVIPROVEIVIENT REVENUE BONDS. AGAINST T'FTE ISSUANCE OF 1!VATT3R1h(_DRKS SYSTEM I1,1PROVEMENT REVENUE BONDS. FOR THE ISSUANCE OF SYMM SYSTEM IMPROVEMIENT REVE714UE BONDS. AGAIINIST THE ISSUANCE OF SEl"MR SYSTFW IM?ROVEMENT REVENUE BONDS. As to each of the foregoing propositions, each voter shall scratch top 3U4 or mark out of the above expressions, thus leaving the c her as in- dicating his vote on the two propositions, respectively. Section 6, That notice of said election shall be given by posting and publication of a copy of this order, at the I;op of which shall appear the words "NOTICE OF CT TY BOND ELECTION"; ald said notice shall be posted at the CITY HALL and at two other public places within the City not less than fourteen (14) full days pr or to the date on which said election is to be held, and be published oi the same day in each of two successive weeks in a newspaper of,general circulation, ublishdd in the City of Georgetown, Texas, the first of said publications to be made not less than fourteen (14) full days prior t.P the date set for said election.
