Smith presiding, the -following aldermen and officers being present: Aldermen: T. L'. Buchholz, J. R. Chastain, C. C. Hamilton, 'V. P. Hoffman, Jr., Sam 7. Tilcox. Officers: C. S. Sanders, assessor and collector, W. H. 7unn, attorney; Albert May Marshal; 11. L. Cates,secretary, and Manager R. 77. 77ard. On Motion of Alderman Hoffman, the minutes of the previous regular and adjourned sessions of the council were approved. On motion of Alderman 'Wilcox all approved accoi-nts "werer_ ordered paid. BrO,iidebt 3ibdre: -and 3usi-nesx iFanager McCook of Southwestern University appeared before the Council and suggested the water reauirements of the university to comply with those of the Governmaht in connection with the ?Navy training school and also -the dairy interests of that institution. -On motion of Alderman Buchholz, seconded by Alderman 7ilcox, `,later and Light' Committeeman and Manager TR. E. lard were authorized to cooperate with the university authorities for a satisfactory solution of the water supply problem. On motion of Alderman Hamilton, seconded by Alderman Buchholz a Charge of 50 cents was voted for the servicing of pri.vj:es in the city limits, to become effective on the first day of Ilay. Ordinance Commnitteeman Chastain presented making it unlawful for Pond any person to prevent or to al -tempt to prevent the Pound Man of 6the said cityfrom discharging �� grog his duties as such and fixing a penalty and creating an emergency,"and moved that it be read in �s full. Themmotion was seconded by Alderman 'Wilcox, and the vote ftsried as follows: eyes, Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox, Noes "?one. The Ordinance was read in full. On motion of Alderman Chastain, seconded by Alderman Hamilton, the usual rules requiring ordinances to be read at three successive meetings, and the said ordinance be read by caption, iu= and the same,be passed to its second reading was passed. The following being the vote: Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, 47ilcox. Noes --None. Ordinance was read by Caption. See Ord. on 'gage 127-a. gm4e Ordinance Committeeman J. ^-'has prsented an Ordinance of which r the following is the caption, and moved that it be read in full: An Ordinance of the City of ,'eorgetown, Texas, prohibiting the owning. maintaining or operating of any Toilet, Commode, sink or bath that is flushed with water, unless such toilet, commode, sink or.bath be connected with or flushed into a septic reservoir or takn constructed and maintained -in accordinance with the rules pro- vided by -the Department of Health of The State of Texas; and creating an emergency." The motion was seconded by Alderman Hoffman, and was passed by the following vote: Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, H Hoffmant Wilcox. Noes --None. The Ordinance was read In Null (See Page 1274B). On Motion of Ald- erman Chastain, seconded by Alderman Hoffman, the usual rules for passing ordinances -was suspended, the said ordinance was passed $m its second reading, and read by caption, the following being -the vote: Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, -1711cox. Alderman Buchholz Seconded the motion and the same motion Wras-by the unanimous vote of the'Council, as follows: Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Tilcox. Noes -- None. Committeeman Chastain presented the Tax Ordinance for"the year of 1943, and moved that it be read in full. The motion was seconded by Alderman Hoffman and was passed unanimously, ky the following being the vote: Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman_, '2ilcox. Noes --None. (See page 128-al The Ordinance was read in Full. On motion of Alderman Chastain, the usual rules foy passing ordinances was suspended -and the -said ordi- nance passed to its second reading and to be read by caption. Alder- man Buchholz seconded the motion. The following was the vote: Ayes -- Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, 71ilcox. 1\Toes--None. Ordinance Read by Caption. On motion -of -Alderman Wilcox, the usual rules for passing -ordinances, requiring that the same shall be read by capt®an only, having been seconded by Alderman Hamilton, the xxmKxwax said ordiae, nance was passed to its third reading. The vote was as follows: Ayes -- Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Haoffman, '?ilcox. Noes --None. +ordinance read by Caption. Alderman 7rilcox moved that it be passed finally. Alderman Hoffman seconded the motion-= which was passed by a unanimous vote as follows: Ayes --Buchholz. Chastain, Hamilton, Hoff- man, Wilcox. Noes --None. An Ordinance of the City of Georgetown fixing the salaries of the officers of the said City elected at the Regular Election held April 6th, 19439 and declaring an emergency, was presented by Ord. Committeeman Chastain, and read in full, and he moved that it be passed. Alderman 'Tilcox seconded the motion and it was passed by the followung vote. Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, 7ilcox. Noes, -?None. Ordinance Committeeman Chastain brought the Sanitary Milk Ordinance passed to its second reading at the regular March meeting of the Council, before the Council and read the same in full, and moved that it be passed to 'its third reading. Alderman Buchholz seconded the motion of Alderman Chastain, and the said.motion was unanimously verrled, the following being the vote: Ayes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox. Noes• -None. Mayor Smith appointed Aldermen Buchholz and Hoffman to canvass the returns of the regnlirncity election held on April 5, 19439 and the the committee reported the results as -follows: For Aldermen-- J. R. Chastain, 57; C. C. Hamilton, 58; S. 77. `'Tilcox, 58. For Treasurer-- Miss Estella Byrom, 58 votes; "or Secretary, M. L. Cates, 58 votes; For City Marshal; Albert 11ay, 58 votes'; For Assessor and Collector-- C. S. Sanders, 58 votes. xxxaj� Each receiving a majority of the votes cast, -Mayor Smith declared each elected to they respective offices as above named, and all were duly and constitutionally installed, after the bonds of the bonded officials were approved.
